Radiestesy using an "ansa" is a method of measuring various types of energy that is practised mostly in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Russia.

The ansa is made of copper or silver (needs to be as pure as possible) and sometimes steel in an approximate V-shape, held between the thumb and the middle finger, the measuring being done using a specific scale (see image).

It is used mostly for diagnosis of medical problems by the bioenergotherapeuts. But it can also be used for divination, to retrieve akashic information, investigate paranormal phenomena, and even in the "old ways" - finding minerals and water.

In most radiestesy schools there are 9 faith-based degrees of initiation, and most of the officially registered societies and schools in Eastern Europe are Christian-based. The deontology of these societies and schools is very strict, and for the higher degrees a "pure way of life" is required, pretty similar to yoghinic requirements of diet, fasting and meditation.
